The Henry Hotel Cebu

Alright, so we went to Cebu to eat.  Just eat.  Call us crazy but that was the plan and we had 4 days to do it.

Although Cebu boasts of picturesque beaches, we just weren’t interested to laze around. We just came from Boracay prior to this trip and we were sunburnt, hungover, and tired of the sun and sand.  We just wanted to relax, eat and avoid the crowd.  And that we did plus stay in this really cool boutique hotel in the heart of Banilad.  The Henry.

Lobby at the The Henry Hotel in Cebu
“Is that Henry,” my kid asked, amazed at this red bald man in the middle of hotel lobby.

Every now and then,  I come across a hotel I really love.  This is one of them. The other one is Noordin Mews in Penang.  MovenPick in Mactan, too.  Glad I discovered this hotel.  It was very near the restaurants on my Eat List. Just a jeepney or taxi ride away.

The whole hotel screams ART! Quirky and fun just like the street arts around Southeast Asia. From the lobby with an industrial feel to the hotel restaurant with quirky furniture and the impeccably designed large rooms.  The vibe is fresh, hip, young and inviting.

Standard room with one big bed and extremely comfortable sheets, pillows and duvet.
Spacious. Clean. Almost clinical.
Love the brick wall. Gives warmth to the room making it more homey.
That’s the desk, in case you want to work, and beyond that mint green door is the bathroom. Why I didn’t take photos of bathroom still puzzles me. I knew I had photos but couldn’t find it in my files. So I’m not entirely sure.

The room is huge — you can even dance around a bit.

Breakfast choices include healthy options. I had the muesli with yogurt and fruits while my kid had, of course, the bacon and egg.

I love that we have more accommodation options now.  Check out our room in The Conservatory at Charlie’s in Baler, Aurora!  We are no longer limited to big hotels and similar looking hotel rooms with crappy lay-out and boring design.  The Henry in Cebu is just one of the more interesting places we have stayed at and rates are reasonable compared to hotels.

And did I mention that there’s also a pool?!!

  1. […] sunset here every night and not get tired of it.  The room is very un-hotel like.  Reminds me of The Henry in Cebu.  Colorful.  Modern.  Quirky.  Fun.  Industrial but not lacking the in the comfort department. […]
