Marikina has become one of the food destinations in Metro Manila after Maginhawa Street. With so many food choices there, it’s hard to choose a favorite. But one resto at a time, right?
First up is Greg & Sally Tree Garden Cafe. It’s dining al fresco amidst nature. So what sets this cafe apart? For one, the cafe offers my all-time comfort food. Pork! In this case, it’s Peppered Pork Steak done four ways. You can choose which combination you’d like to pair your Pork Steak with. I chose rice and mango salsa while my nephew had mashed potato.
Both combos are good. The Mango Salsa could use a bit of salt and acidity but it’s nice and fresh so we’re good.
We had Cheese Balls and Chicken Strips for appetizers. The Cheese Balls are ok but could be better if left in the pan a little longer since the cheese was not gooey enough for me. The Chicken Strips were moist and seasoned well and I like the dip it came with.
My sister also ordered Mushroom Sisig. This was a disappointment as we were expecting more mushroom than meat. Hope they could address this or just label it as Pork Sisig with mushroom so people would know what they’re getting.
We also ordered Tocino and Mushroom Soup. The soup truly hits the spot. It was exactly how my Mom would cook it when we were younger. Just a bit expensive for a small serving.
And here we are goofing around a bit with the only bed frame in the middle of the garden.
